Candidates are required immediately to fill two vacancies in Hong Kong før Assistant Superintendents of Police, salary £400 per anmum for the first two years, then £520 £1,050 by six amual increments of £25, one er £90, five of £30, one of 640 and twe of £50 (salary subject te revision on the recommendations of the Salaries Commission). Non-pensionable residential allowance at rate of 10% on first £400, 5% on second 2400 and 21% on any balance up to maximum of £1,200 per amp is payable while officer is in actual residence in the Colony, and. temporary non-pensionable high cost of living allowance is payable at rate of £250 per annum for a married officer or £200 for a single officer on a salary of £400. On a salary of $1,050 the rates are £260 and £120. Salaries subject to local taxation. If unfurnished Government quartera provided 12% is deducted from salary: if furnioked Government quarters provided an extra 1% is deducted. Allowance made if Government quarters not available, Housing conditions still far from satisfactory in Hong Kong and candidates may be compelled to live under somewhat austere conditions for next year or two. Pension constant 1/600th and normal retiring age 55 but in special circumstances may retire or be called upon to retire at 50, Officers required to contribute towards Widows' and Orphans' Pension Scheme at rate of % of salary, unless exempted or partially exempted through contributions to approved scheme elsewhere. Other conditions as in Miscellaneous 488. Officers selected will have to acquire knowledge of Cantonese.
